Safety & Fraud Prevention

Buying or renting property involves a lot of money, so it pays to be careful. These are practical steps that help, whichever website you find a property on.

Know who you are dealing with

  • Confirm the identity of the person you are dealing with, whether they are an owner, agent or agency. Ask to see an ID and check that the name matches the documents.
  • If someone says they represent the owner, ask for written authorisation and, where you can, speak to the owner yourself.
  • Prefer to meet in person, and let someone you trust know where you are going.

Check the property and its papers

  • Verify ownership and the property documents before you pay anything. It is sensible to have a lawyer or a trusted professional check the title and the transfer.
  • Visit and inspect the property where you can, and compare what you see with the listing: location, size, condition and photographs.
  • Confirm the price, what is included, and any charges, in writing.
  • Check the property is actually available and has not been promised to someone else.

Be careful with money

  • Do not send money only because of an online listing. Pay only once you have verified the person and the property.
  • Be cautious of prices that are far below similar properties nearby, and of anyone who pushes you to pay urgently or keeps you from visiting.
  • Prefer payments that leave a record, made to an account in the name of the owner or a registered company, and keep every receipt.
  • Never pay a fee to see a property or to reserve it before you have checked it.

Protect your accounts and details

  • Never share your password or one-time codes (OTPs), with anyone, including someone who says they work for us. We will not ask for them.
  • Do not share bank card details, PINs or online banking logins.
  • Be careful with links and attachments from people you do not know.

Warning signs

  • A price that seems too good to be true.
  • Pressure to decide or pay quickly.
  • Reluctance to meet, show the property, or show documents.
  • Photographs that look like they belong to another property, or the same photographs on several listings.
  • Requests to move the conversation away from the platform straight away, or to pay through unusual channels.
  • Details that keep changing, such as the owner, the price or the address.

Report anything suspicious

If a listing, a user or a message looks suspicious, tell us. Use the Report button on the listing's page or the Report a Listing form, and contact us about suspicious users or messages through Contact Us.

What we do and do not do

Every new listing is reviewed by our team before it appears, and we act on reports. But Property Khareedo does not guarantee the authenticity or legality of what users say about a property unless it has been explicitly verified through our verification process, and even then verification covers only what that process checks. It is not a guarantee of ownership, legal title or condition. Please do your own checks. See our Terms & Conditions.
